President Joko Widodo or Jokowi held a video conference with the Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) in seven countries, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Egypt, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Brunei Darussalam, at Bina Graha Presidential Palace.
After receiving complaints from a number of workers in the video conference, Jokowi decided to abolish Card Overseas Workers (KTKLN) previously must have workers who work abroad.
President Joko Widodo said "I just want to say one thing, the last, KTKLN removed, already," responding to the demand of the workers from different countries, Sunday (11/29/2014) evening.
Before the workers assess, KTKLN has made a number of people to squeeze them and bring extortion. "What we ask for the deletion, sir, not revised since KTKLN has weighed both morally and materially," said the representative of Brunei Darussalam TKI.
Start of Recruitment Process
Earlier, in his introduction Jokowi admitted that he had heard a lot about the various problems of our workers who are abroad, but he wanted to hear directly from all migrant workers there.
"I know that the problems there were about what I understand. For example, the problem of unpaid wages, the workload is not suitable, then there's more, employers are not appropriate, then there is physical violence, then there is sexual harassment," Jokowi said, adding that such things were to be overcome.
As reported setkab.go.id page, the President said, we have to start something unequivocally that if it's too many problems in all countries, better we stop and the moratorium.
"I think it's the future we want to do so that the name of the protection of our workers, protection of our workers who are abroad and this had to be started from the recruitment process in the country to be in countries outside of us, the state placement so really everything is in a protected position, a comfortable position in the work, "said Jokowi.
Accompanying Jokowi in these activities include Pratikno State Secretary, Cabinet Secretary Andi Vitello, Justice Minister Yasona Laoly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Lestari Priansari, Labor Minister Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri, Minister of National Development Planning Andrinov Chaniago, and Chief BNP2TKI Nusron Wahid.
